“Songs for Muska” with Conspirare
Last March Conspirare premiered Hagen’s new evening-length work Songs for Muska,
a piece they commissioned and Hagen spent four years conceiving and writing. Songs for Muska is based on poetry by the women of Afghanistan.
The poems are taken from two incredible books: I am the beggar of the world, by Eliza Griswold, and Load Poems Like Guns, translations by Farzana Marie.
Conspirare and Hagen are currently seeking funding to record the work. If this is a project you’d like to support, please contact Conspirare directly.
The image you see here was commissioned by Hagen for the cover of the score, and created by artist Tia Keo.
